TOMD – Dalek

dalek

What geeks desk could be complete without a Dalek sitting next to the computer. Of course the Desk would be even more complete if it had a Cyberman and Sontaran standing with the Dalek. Those will be added someday, when I have a job again or when I win the lottery.

The three of them (dalek, cyberman and sontaran) hold a special place for my geek heart. When I first found Dr. Who as a young geek it was watching the Tom Baker Episodes Genesis of the Daleks,Sontarran Experiment and Revenge of the Cybermen. As much as I love the current run of Dr. Who these episodes will always be the best in my mind. The Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith and Harry Sullivan taking on the galaxies worst to save the day.

Junk on the Internet…

Hey Check it out it is my 101st post in this blog and it is totally lame!!!

Time to clean the tabs out and post some of the stuff I have been saving to blog about.

I am a big fan of David Peterson’s MouseGuard. I would love for them to release these custom figures so I could buy them all up and set them up on my desk to keep me company.

Saxon

Over on COMICARTFANS I ran across this 3D rendition of Silver Surfer #72 From there I went over to the artist website, I am really thinking of doing one of these myself.
Here are a couple others that I like:

The Beast from The XMEN (and the Avengers, Champions, Defenders, New Defenders, X-Factor and back to the XMEN again…) has always been my favorite mutant in the Marvel Universe. This card shows his his bouncy style in all of his glory. Terrax, I dont know much about other then he is tied back to Galactus. I just like the character design on the guy!

Logan’s Run has been rumored to be in development for a reboot movie for a long time now, long enough for no one to believe it anymore. What Logan fans can believe in and look forward to is the New LOGAN’S RUN comic coming from bluewater! CBR got some previews of the artwork.

Could write more, should write more… going to stop instead…

here is a video to end the post:

TOMD – The Beast

beast2
The Beast has always been one of my favorite Mutants. I first was introduced to the charecter in the Defenders, where he first showed up in issue #104 and continued with the team until the end of the series. From that point The Beast continued to influence my comic reading. I followed him into what ever comics he appeared in. From the forming of X-Factor and into crossovers with the Uncanny X-Men.

The Beast is sitting on my desk in two different versions. The Large version comes from a toy line from a few years back called Spiderman and Friends. The line started up at about the same time as the Marvel Superhero Squad and survived for a number of waves but ultimatly lost out to the smaller cheaper line.

beastThe Second Beast that is on my desk comes from the Marvel Superhero Squad line. The Beast has appeared many times in this toyline, but sadly this is the only version in my desk clutter so far. I have a couple other Beast toys in my work area in the basement, but not enough in my opinion.
While I was writing this, I did an ebay search to track down the name of the toyline that the Large Beast came from. While doing this I found out just how many other cool Beast toys are out there, and all I can say is that I am really lucky that I am broke right now. Otherwise there would be one heck of a Beast buying frenzy…

That reminds me, I should check my ticket and see if I won the lottery.

TOMD – Kit Fisto

kit

Yet another Background character from Star Wars. Although he does get more screen time then most, and a lot more in the various cartoons. Sadly like most of the Jedi Kit met an untimly end in Revenge of the Sith. So far I have three different versions of Kit Sitting on my desk. The Mini Galactic Hero version, One of the Action figures and The Kit Fisto bust.

TOMD – Superhero Squad Fantastic Four

mshsff

I have been in love with this line of toys since it started… (and all of it’s cousins GIJOE, Star Wars and Dr.Who)

Image wise the Fantastic Four have always been one of my favorites. Having said that I have to admit that I don’t think that I have read more then 20 of their comics in my whole Comic reading life…

You can expect to be seeing a whole lot more of these guys show up here. I have tons of these… Of course most of them are in the toy box and are played with by littleduck and I… but there are some that just live on the desk.

TOMD – Howard the Duck

marvel_legends_logo

dsc_0022Howard the Duck…

I know I could probably get in trouble for saying this, But I really liked the Howard the Duck movie. Which makes me one of maybe ten people who admit that… altough in secret I think that the number is much higher.

91eb_1I was also a big fan of the Steve Gerber comic as well. Howard was just plain cool, and well come on… He is a DUCK. So I thought it was really cool that they where releasing him as a figure in the Marvel Legends line. The problem was that he was going to be a pack in with the Silver Surfer and I just couldnt bring myself to pay that much for another Silver Surfer figure at Marvel Legends prices.

A while later a friend, Bills, who had bought one was getting ready to get rid of some stuff at a con and Howard was one of the items. So he was nice enough to let Howard come and live on my desk…

TOMD – Max Rebo

dsc_0017

Max Rebo is yet another fine example of how I love the background characters of the Star Wars movies. Max Rebo is one of the fine musicians that entertain Jabba in his palace.

How can you not love a neon blue elephant who plays the keyboards.

I have many versions of Max (including a photo signed by the puppeter.), but the one that gets a place on my desk is the bean bag version that they released in the height of all the beanie babie craze.
